Music: The opera and the big concert halls in Vienna are closed during summer. In Konzerthaus and Musikverein there are some concerts, but these are very touristy. There are other possibilities to hear nice music, though:

• On Rathausplatz movies of (mainly classical) music are displayed each evening on a hughe screen. There are lots of small stands selling different kind of foods and drinks. See http://www.wiener-rathausplatz.at/sommerkino.html.
• In the Church St. Rupprecht (the oldest church of Vienna, the oldest parts dating from about 1130) there are chamber music concerts. There are evening concerts (starting at 19:30) on July 11, 12, 18, and 19, see http://www.alte-musik.co.at/evening and night concerts (starting at 22:00) on July 13 and 20, see http://www.alte-musik.co.at/nightconcerts.
• Liechtenstein Museum (close to the ESI) offers a concert on July 10 and 17, in combination with a visit to the museum and/or a lunch, see http://www.liechtensteinmuseum.at/de/pages/1913.asp
• Haus der Musik (a museum on music) offers 50 minutes concerts centered around Franz Liszt in their yard (under a glass roof) on July 10 and 17, see http://www.hdm.at/events/31.htm

open air cinemas: Apart from the musical movies on Rathausplatz, there are several options to see movies outdoors:

• "Kino unter Sternen" on Karlsplatz operates each evening during July, see http://www.afterimage.at/english/Kino-unter-Sternen-2011.html.
• "Kino am Dach" on top of the main building of the Vienna libraries on Gürtl (subway U6), operates each evening during summer, see http://www.kinoamdach.at/.
• "Kino wie noch nie" in Augarten, close to the subway U2, see http://www.kinowienochnie.at/filmprogramm/. Many of the movies are in original langues with english or german subtitles.
