Nonlinear Water Waves

April 4th - June 30th, 2011

Organized by A. Constantin, J. Escher, D. Lannes, W. Strauss.

The program aims to provide insight into modern aspects of water wave theory by focusing on four very active areas:

  • free surface water waves
  • stability theory of fluids
  • current aspects of integrable systems and solitons
  • tsunamis

In addition to research seminars, there will be a series of lectures on water wave theory (aimed to provide an introduction - from classical to modern - for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) and informal discussions are planned. We strive for an atmosphere that facilitates scientific interaction and collaboration between the participants.

Detailed information about the forthcoming talks will be posted about 2 weeks in advance.
