This course introduces mathematicians and physicists to the ideas relating classical and quantum mechanics with Lie algebras and Lie groups.
From the algebraic point of view, quantum mechanics and classical mechanics look quite similar, and we emphasize these similarities.

There will be lecture notes in English, which cover the bulk of the material treated, and add more depth to some things covered in the course only superficially.

Note: This course is preceded by a course on Lie groups by Prof. Kriegl, which concentrates on the purely mathematical side of Lie groups, and should form a useful complement to this course. Prof. Kriegl's course is Monday - Wednesday 10:10-10:55, also in room D103. (He also has exercises, Thursdays 10:10-10:55 in room D103.)
