In this course we apply statistical data analysis techniques to real life data sets from applications in

  • Computer-assisted living (Computer-unterstütztes Leben), with data from The e-Home project
  • Mirror neuron data analysis from experiments in Neurobiophysics
  • Dendrochronology, i.e., dating by means of growth rings (Datierung an Hand von Jahresringen)
  • Protein folding (Proteinfaltung)

    Each participant is expected to complete a small project with beamer presentation, and to create a LaTeX report on it of about 20 pages.

    Required background knowledge: Good command of linear algebra and its numerical analysis. Some theory on statistical data analysis.

    Lecture notes with the necessary background in statistical data analysis are available upon request.
