      Research Position

      In the framework of a project funded by the European Union
      (IST project COCONUT - COntinuous CONstraints: Updating the Technology)


The position is available for at most 3 years. The candidate will join the Numer
ical 
Analysis and Optimization Group of the Center of Mathematics of the University o
f
Coimbra and will work on the nonlinear optimization component of a challenging
European project on complete solvers for continuous constraint satisfaction prob
lems.

The position requires a Ph.D in mathematics, operations research, computer scien
ce, 
or a related area, with a strong emphasis in numerical analysis and nonlinear op
timization.
Other essential criteria: excellent oral and written English communication skill
s;
good scientific computing background.

The salary range is 16161 EURO - 31125 EURO, per year, tax free, depending on 
qualifications and experience.
