Preface

The 91st meeting of the Séminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire took place from March 17 to March 20, 2024, marking its debut in Spain. The venue was the Hotel Salobreña Suites, nestled on the Mediterranean coast of the Province of Granada. Throughout the three-day event, attendees enjoyed pleasantly warm weather and a stunning seascape against a backdrop of clear skies and the Salobreña castle.

This gathering honored Ira Gessel of Brandeis University, who delivered a series of lectures entitled "The Amdeberhan-Konvalinka Conjecture and Symmetric Functions." The series began with a comprehensive introduction to symmetric functions, followed by an exploration of their relationship with the theory of species. The final lecture focused on unraveling the Amdeberhan-Konvalinka conjecture.

Petter Brändén from KTH Stockholm gave the second series of lectures on "Lorentzian Polynomials" with an overview of their properties, usefulness and relations with log-concavity, the idea of negative dependence, combinatorics and matroid theory.

The contributed talks, on a wide variety of topics, are listed below.

The schedule was quite dense but left time to some participants to play chess or to use the (outdoor) swimming pool, although it was quite cold, despite the good weather.
