Doctoral Program in Algebra

The Research Group Algebra at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Vienna offers a selective and focused doctoral program for talented students specializing in the four broad research areas of Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry and Discrete Mathematics and their crossroads.

The research fields of our faculty in these areas include

  • Combinatorics
  • Lie groups and Lie algebras
  • Algebraic geometry and singularities
  • Geometric group theory
  • Algebraic groups and their arithmetic subgroups
  • Automorphic forms
  • Diophantine approximation
