Title: "Torsion groups acting properly on a CAT(0) cube complex."
Speaker: Rémi Coulon (Université de Rennes)
Abstract: (joint work with V. Guirardel) Since the beginning of 20th century, torsion groups motivated many developments in geometric group theory: free Burnside groups, Tarski monsters, Grigorchuck groups, etc. From a geometrical point of view, one would like to understand on which space such a group can acts "nicely" by isometries. In this talk we will focus on the class of CAT(0) spaces and more precisely on CAT(0) cube complexes. In particular we will present an example of finitely generated non amenable torsion group acting properly on a CAT(0) cube complex.
