Title: First-order theory and acylindrical hyperbolicity
Speaker: Simon Andre (Vanderbilt)
Abstract: The first-order theory of a group G is the set of first-order sentences that are satisfied by G. I will discuss the following question: if G has a geometrical property, such as hyperbolicity or acylindrical hyperbolicity, and if a group G ' has the same first-order theory as G, is the group G '(acylindically) hyperbolic as well? In other words, is the geometry of G encoded into its first-order theory?
